If you’re looking for a reliable, confident, authoritative voice for your next audio project, then Lynne Adkins is your gal. Adkins, a Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley native, is a seasoned professional lending her gifted voice to the radio industry since 1981 and to the on hold business since 1999.
From an early age, there was no doubt that Adkins was going to be a professional voice talent. “I always had an interest in learning new things as a reporter and wanted to do something fun and fascinating,” says Adkins. While she studied for her degree in Radio, Television and Film at Temple University she worked at various internships and caught the radio bug. Unlike most college grads, Adkins landed her first radio job while she was still in college at a station called WHYY-FM in Philadelphia. She was one of the few lucky ones who did not have to send demo tapes to hundreds of stations prior to graduation. Her early days at WHYY-FM launched her career and eventually helped her land her current jobs as an on air reporter at KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia and as a voice talent for on hold and voice prompts at Spectrio.
Adkins is a triple threat. Aside from radio and on hold, she also worked in the television industry voicing narrations and commercials. In fact, she’s done a lot of narration work for films for the disabled for Moss and Magee rehabilitation hospitals in the Philadelphia area.
One of Adkins favorite projects for Spectrio was voicing a bus stop loop. “It was neat to know that my voice was being heard by multiple people at one time,” she recalls. Speaking of public transportation, she adds, “What I would love to do someday is be the voice for SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority). I think that would be the coolest thing.”

I try to make voicing scripts the most important thing that I’m doing at that time because I know someone is paying a lot of money for it and I want it to be done perfectly.” When asked about her voicing style, Adkins says, “It has been described to me as being classic and vanilla with no accent and non regional.”
Outside of her various voicing projects and jobs, you won’t find her sitting behind a desk. You may find her on a golf course, on a ski slope, at the local gym, catching up on some reading or traveling throughout the world. In fact, she traveled to South Africa in 2012 and embarked on a journey to China with stops in Shanghai and Beijing in 2013.
