Skill adds to the Company’s growing number of third-party integrations, increasing accessibility and flexibility of its digital platforms

Tampa, Fla. – February 1, 2020

Spectrio, one of the nation’s leading providers of customer engagement solutions, announced today the addition of an Alexa skill to Amazon’s Alexa for Hospitality console, an experience that brings the simplicity and convenience of Alexa to senior living communities using property-managed Echo devices. This new skill seamlessly integrates with the SpectrioSHARE solution to provide residents with helpful information about community calendars, menus, and more with a simple voice-activated user experience.

With an Amazon Echo device linked to the SpectrioSHARE solution, residents in a senior living community can connect with their community’s information via voice. Rather than using a remote control to scroll through information on the television, residents can simply ask Alexa for a meal menu and which activities are happening in the community. When an Amazon Echo device is placed in a personal room, residents can also ask Alexa to send a message to a staff member, check the weather, play music, play games, or hear the news.

To simplify the interaction for residents, the SpectrioSHARE skill for Amazon Alexa is certified for name-free interactions. Residents can interact with the Amazon Echo device simply by asking Alexa, rather than invoking the skill by name.

“At Spectrio, we are always looking for ways to improve our products’ accessibility so we can help our clients engage with as many people as possible,” said Jeff Juszczak, vice president of software engineering at Spectrio. “The new SpectrioSHARE skill for Amazon Alexa allows residents in a senior living community to get essential information about their community through the power of voice, which is particularly valuable for those with vision or mobility issues.”

Spectrio’s Alexa integration provides a seamless setup for residents, with no manual effort required by the community. Because the SpectrioSHARE skill for Amazon Alexa works through the Alexa for Hospitality console, the Echo devices are pre-programmed and assigned to the community’s network before arriving at the community. When Spectrio adds new prompts to the skill for Amazon Alexa, everything updates automatically for the resident. Skills and resident assignments are managed in the Alexa for Hospitality console, and the Echo devices can be set to block purchasing.

The SpectrioSHARE skill for Alexa is one of the Company’s many third-party integrations for its digital signage and interactive solutions, which include entertainment and news content feeds, social media, point of sale, scheduling applications, industry-specific applications, database and inventory platforms, medical practice management, and more. The integrations create flexibility for Spectrio’s digital platforms while creating a more engaging experience for customers and visitors.
